THE PAUSE :
edition 009 - remembering what makes you unique, thoughts from an elevated european life, and a perspective shift
THE PAUSE
i’m writing this while flying 30,000ft in the sky, in order to bring you my freshest thoughts from an inspiring and eye-opening european trip
(thank you for your patience on my week off last week).
in our new fashion, throw this on and begin reading ♡

at this moment, someone could be remembering the feeling they felt in your presence. they could be smiling at how you greeted them or how you took a moment from your day to ask how they were really doing.
feeling is how we navigate the world. we feel our way into social circles, into yes’s, into no’s. we feel our way into wanting to re-discover and re-visit a place that filled our heart. we feel our way into deciding on where to host our wedding, or how to tell someone we’re in need of extra support. we feel our way into how to approach a tough conversation with our kids, and when to subtly tell someone they have a crumb on their upper lip.
when you find connection with the same feeling as someone else, there’s no place like it on earth. because when you feel something someone else does, you are understanding how they are really doing without needing words.

after our incredible 11 days of portugal (where we were venue searching for our 2026 wedding!!!!) - a thought came to me about how our trip was elevated beyond what i expected. we put adventure and experiencing the local culture at the fore-front of our trip.
if you are looking to learn and be exposed to incredible people and places in your lifetime, spend on your experiences.
give yourself a budget that allows you to travel and explore areas of the world that interest you. buy the ticket, then maybe upgrade it.
learn through living, and being in places with people that inspire you and teach you new things. people that open your eyes to culture and perspective and opinion.
experience moves you. it is real, tangible, and it allows our brains to attach to real world situations (and if you’re like me and are a visionary - you need to get out and actually feel it yourself).
the things we remember the most are the things that hook us; the emotion, the ah-ha’s, the awe and the deep understanding.
experience brings this to us. so build out the experience you desire.

i follow an influencer online that was recently diagnosed with cancer. she’s been going through a journey of chemo/treatments, and subsequently.. exhaustion.
she once was so deeply invigorated to share her life online, to post beautiful things - but she was also admittedly quick to judge her own photos, her own wardrobe, and not be happy with her hair/make up, etc..
she’s months into chemo now and she preaches that there was such a missed presence in her life before chemo. she rushed through life, she even criticized her bad hair days/her photoshoots that didn’t come out just right..
and now she is sharing her depth + perspective of how absolutely crazy that was. how she used to be so hard on her body and her way of being. now all she wants is her hair to just have - her eye brows to manicure - and the energy to even take a photo or show up online.
there is such a bittersweet moment in her journey - not just because of going through the struggle this brought to her and her husbands life (although she seems to really be evolving so much) but to really see life for what it is - and everything that comes with us so uniquely, and being uniquely ourselves.
she shares that it is such a privilege and gift to be alive, to have the hair you have, or the body you have. it’s the reminder that when we stop picking at ourselves for each thing we believe isn’t good about ourselves, we could instead be having gratitude for that exact part of ourselves.

♡ something new i tried is allowing myself to eat without borders in europe (a first!!!), and having couvert (bread, butter and olives) daily. it is wild to me how their food is somehow fundamentally different and clearly more healthy than ours (i dont think i gained one pound). and i wanted to share this because if you can make it to europe and take your vacation, make it the best ever and please indulge yourself with no boundaries on diet.
♡ something renewed is my deep adoration of jordan almonds.
♡ something new that’s happening in europe is the recognition that high-low fashion is absolutely in and elevated. this means h&m tshirts and jacquemus pants. or an outfit from zara with your favourite designer bag. do you, and express yourself with whatever you find - from whatever fashion line you love.
rest until i see you next ♡
